A war...in Atlanta...about pizza?!! As a NYer, I gave up on great pizza a long time ago, but every once and a while, you come upon some delicious runner ups. One of those contenders is in the quaint town of Powder Springs, about 15 miles outside of ATL as the crow flies. Cangelosi Pizza, right in front of the friggin orange box, HD, is run by some natives from the Apple, who've brought a little swag to the pizza game. Got Ol Blue Eyes playing in the background and pics of the NY skyline hanging around the joint, and that familiar greasy garlic & oniony perfume coming from the bowels of the kitchen is heaven. They do sell whole pies and pizza by the slice...my favorite pie is grilled chicken & roma tomato with pesto sauce-awesome. Is the best I ever had? No, but after eating slices from a lot of contenders around this town, it'll do for a Friday night meal with a brewski. They have all flavors of gelato, hot knishes, even Cuban sandwiches. Is it a lot of East coast attitude? Not at all-most of the staff have that Georgia drawl, so no need to run from any thick South Bronx accents. Give em a shout out if you are in the neighborhod
